CharisRemote Terms of Service

Effective: 1 October 2026

CharisRemote is published by Cheng Guan Teo, trading as CharisTools. By downloading or using CharisRemote, you agree to these terms.

What CharisRemote is

CharisRemote is a remote control for TVs that pair with a phone over Wi-Fi by showing a code on the TV screen. It speaks that TV’s local remote-control protocol directly over your network. It is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC or any TV manufacturer. Android, Google TV, and related marks are trademarks of Google LLC. Any TV brand named in the app is used only to describe compatibility and belongs to its respective owner.

License

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use CharisRemote on Apple devices you own or control, for its intended purpose as a TV remote, subject to these terms and Apple’s own App Store terms. No copying, reverse-engineering beyond what applicable law permits, redistributing, or reselling the app.

Free use and the one-time unlock

The core remote (power, D-pad, volume, mute, play/pause, basic typing) is free to use, including after any trial period ends. A one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase unlocks additional features (currently: touchpad and custom app shortcuts) — a single payment, not a subscription.

Purchases are processed by Apple. Billing, receipts, and refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s own Media Services Terms and refund policies — we don’t process payments or issue refunds ourselves. Use “Restore Purchases” in Settings to restore a purchase already made on your Apple ID.

You are responsible for your network

You are solely responsible for only pairing CharisRemote with TVs and networks you’re authorized to control. Don’t use the app to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to any device or network. The developer cannot see, and has no way to verify, which devices you point the app at.

No warranty

CharisRemote is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Compatibility with any specific TV, firmware version, or network configuration isn’t guaranteed — the remote protocol CharisRemote speaks is not an Apple-reviewed or manufacturer-guaranteed integration, and TV manufacturers can change behavior in ways outside our control.

No liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, CharisRemote, including any issue with a TV or network the app connects to. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using CharisRemote at any time by deleting the app. We may discontinue or change the app at any time; Pro features you’ve already unlocked are Apple-account-entitled and unaffected by app updates or discontinuation of new sales.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of CharisRemote is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

Changes

If these terms change, we’ll update the date above and note any meaningful change in the app’s release notes. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
